Ban Ki-moon urges South Sudanese contending parts to stop conflict

Addis Ababa, 13 July 2015(WIC) – UN secretary General Ban Ki-moon has urged South Sudanese contending political forces to stop the escalated conflict.

In a press conference held today on South Sudan crisis in ECA, Ban Ki-moon emphasized that the two opposing political forces should give up the war for the sake  of the people suffering of   the persisted conflict.

According to Ban Ki-moon, the people of south Sudan faced an unnecessary conflict in the past sixteen months, the commitment of leaders of the two political forces is essential to end the conflict and peaceful future of the nation.

Encouraging discussion was held with the leaders of both parts, he said, assuring that the government to fully cooperate in respecting human rights.

Head of African Union, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, on her part said that  the mediation on the South Sudan conflict will  start again to end the humanitarian crisis in the nation.

She added that IGAD and OAU are exerting efforts to assist the negotiation between the government and the opposing party.
