EPRDF says First GTP contributes significant inputs to second GTP

Addis Ababa,  8 August 2015 (WIC) ¬ – The Council of Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Front (EPRDF) said that the first Growth and Transformation Plan contributed significant inputs that could help as a spring board for the second Growth and Transformation Plan.

 

The Council has evaluated the performance of the first Growth and Transformation Plan.

 

In a press release the office of the council sent to WIC, the lessons learnt from addressing challenges in the first GTP  could serve as inputs for the second GTP.

 

The fast and sustainable economic growth over the past five years attained due to the exerted integrated efforts of the mobilized people  will be  further strengthened.

 

According to the evaluation, millions of people were mobilized and achieved encouraging results in natural resource conservation.

 

The Council evaluated that engaging development armies in urban areas is encouraging especially in education and micro and small scale enterprises, even though it needs to be consolidated.

 

The Council also urged to give priority to the manufacturing sector and export sectors in the second GTP.

 

Despite improvements un good governance, there is need to exert a lot of efforts so as to provide fast and just services to the people so as to meet public satisfaction, it noted.

 

The Council also forwarded the major directions for the second GTP to be tabled in the coming 10th EPRDF ordinary conference, WIC learnt.
