Government ready to overcome Elino weather challenges

Addis Ababa, 13 August 2015 (WIC) – Government Communication Affairs Office says the government is ready to overcome Elino related weather issues which has happened in some parts of the country.

Minister of the office Redwan Hussien in his briefings to journalists today said that insufficient rain observed around North, Central Eastern and in some parts of rift valleys areas has shown some inconvenience could be overcome by the actions taken by the government.

It was predicted that following warmer of the Pacific Ocean the problem could happen, he said adding that the government could ease the problem by delivering molasses food for cattle.

There is no report in death of human in these areas it was noted. Similarly food aid is delivered in these areas as the government has accumulated enough amount of food to overcome these unexpected natural disasters.

According to him in some parts of the country particularly the problem was a bit severe in North Somali and Afar regions following unsatisfactory rain in these regions.

The government has set over 700 million EB and life saving activities is going side by side accordingly, it was noted.

To minimize the problem farming fast growing crops, irrigation works and promoting watershed works will be focus areas of the government in the future.
