Nation earns over 306 million USD from the export of manufacturing products

Addis Ababa, June 5, 2015 (WIC) – Ethiopia has earned more than 306 million USD revenue from exported manufacturing products in the past nine months, Ministry of Industry said. 

Melaku Taye, Public Relations Head in the Ministry, told WIC that Ethiopia has earned a total export revenue of 306, 429,000.

The earning was from exported textiles, leather and leather products, meat and dairy products, food and pharmaceuticals, chemicals and construction inputs as well as engineered metal products, he said.    

He added textiles and Leather products take the highest share of the revenue contributed 25.5 percent and 32.6 percent of the total revenue respectively.
The manufacturing sector has registered an average of 20 percent growth in the last four years of the GTP period, Melaku said.

The government has exerted efforts to increase the growth of the sector through offering various incentives including tax discount, WIC learnt.
