Ministry declares diary production Master plan

Addis Ababa, 16 June 2015 (WIC) – Ministry of Agriculture said that it has declared national master plan to double diary production.

Animal Husbandry Directorate Director, Tadesse Sore told WIC that the master plan is designed based on a comprehensive research that is believed to lead to diary production excellence.

According to Tadesse, milk, meat and other products collected from over 106 million cattle, camels, sheep and goats is part of the plan.

The master plan also incorporates targets that increase the productivity milk from 4.9 billion to 7.9 billion liters and meat from 12 million to 22 million quintals, he noted.

Awareness creation works on the master plan with the ministry, regional executives and stake holders have taken place, adding that these works will be applied by approaching closer to each farmer and pastoral households.
