Nation registers 31.4 percent growth in crop production

Addis Ababa, April 24,2015 (WIC) – Nation has registered 31.4 percents growth of cereal   production in the last  GTP period, Ministry of  Agriculture said.

Acting Head of Public Relation with the ministry, Asrat Gebre Tsadiq told WIC that the nation registers 31.5 percents growth of crop production in the last four GTP periods scoring 7.8 percents annual growth rate in four consecutive years. 

According to Asrat the ministry planned to use 11.96  million hectares  of land  to produce  main crops including pulses and oil seeds in the last  budget year, over 12 .4  million hectares of land  is utilized in the budget year.
Asrat reminded that over 250 million quintals of crop production is collected in the last production year planning to obtain 245.2 million quintals.     

The ministry  of  agriculture underway  activities  to harvest  production of  main crops  from 12.17  million hectares of  land  in this  production year.
