Dr Tedros confers with Foreign Minister of Norway

Addis Ababa, 14 July 2014 (WIC) – Foreign Minister Dr Tedros Adhanom, met with his Norwegian counterpart, Borge Brende, on Monday (July 13) on the sidelines of the Third International Conference on Financing for Development in Addis Ababa.

Discussions covered bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of common interest. The two Foreign Ministers discussed on the developments in Somalia and the IGAD-led South Sudan peace negotiations.
Dr Tedros briefed Foreign Minister Brende that Ethiopia had held peaceful and orderly parliamentary and regional elections on May 24.

Foreign Minister Brende emphasized that Norway remains committed to extend support to Ethiopia with a view to make the outcome of this Conference a complete success.
The Foreign Minister pointed out that the Norwegian parliament regarded Ethiopia as one of the six focus countries in the Norwegian development cooperation program.

He also stressed the need to work on further development cooperation in the areas of energy, education and environment.
Norway’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, indicating Ethiopia’s important role in regional and global issues, including, climate change, reiterated that his country enjoys its strategic partnership with Ethiopia.
