Gonder University perseveres to revamp tourism

Addis Ababa, September30, 2015(WIC)-Gonder University says it is making unreserved effort to contribute its own part to improve the tourism sector side by side with the task of education.

President of the University, Dr Mengesha Admassu, told WIC that the university is undertaking efforts to tap tourism potential of Gonder, which is home of various historical heritages of the medieval period and with other tremendous sites of tourist attraction.          
According to Dr Menegesha, the University is utilizing technology to safeguard foreign tourists visiting Gonder and the technology is playing a significant role in building positive image of the country.

Gonder University, a prominent higher learning institution in health science training, is teaching over 28,000 students in undergraduate and post graduate programs, Dr. Mengesha noted.

The university has focused more on training teachers development packages and over 1850 are under training in Masters and Phd programs, he added.

The university is participating in various social services and providing 50 hours free legal service for communities  in 15 weredas of Amhara region is one among the many.
