MoH to train 15 thousand health professionals, leaders

Addis Ababa, 28 November 2015 (WIC) – The Ministry of Health (MoH) has started training 15 thousand core health professionals and leaders across the country in relation to good governance, on the second Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP II), transformation agenda and leadership skills in four rounds.

According to the State Minister of the Ministry, Amir Aman (MDr.), 4,500 trainees in the first round are currently receiving the training.

The training is being conducted in cooperation with the Meles Zenawi leadership Academy in five cities namely Addis Ababa, Adama, Bahir Dar, Hawassa and Mekelle, he noted.

Amir told Walta Information Center that the trainees will delve deeply in to plans of the ministry in GTP II so that every trainee will be at par about what will be implemented during the course of GTP II period.

He also told Walta that the trainees will discuss about the good governance package the ministry has tailored in its bid to face mal-governance practices in the health subsector of the economy.

The state minister said that core health professionals and leaders are drawn from 300 hospitals and 3,500 health centers of 869 Woreda’s across the country.

The training, to be given for 18 days, is aimed at changing the mindset of the trainees so that they will be motivated in order to accomplish the health sector goals enshrined in GTP II.
