Addis hosts First African Circus Arts Festival

Addis Ababa, 28 November, 2015 (WIC)-The first African Circus Arts Festival is being held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from November 27 to 29, 2015.

Communication Officer with African Circus Arts Festival, Sabrina Pezzei, told WIC that the festival is organized to create awareness towards circus arts and promote African circus market as well.

Sabrina, said Ethiopia is chosen to host as the organizer, Fikat Circus, one of the Circus Teams taking part in the festival, is originated from Ethiopia. Besides, Addis Ababa is the political capital city of Africa.

UNESCO and other organizations are cooperatively working to promote the festival, it was noted.

In the festival live music and DJ’s, bazaar, African handicrafts, music workshops and more others are incorporated.

85 circus artists, 8 circus teams from 7 countries namely Ethiopia, Egypt, Kenya, Madagascar, Senegal, South Africa and Zambia are taking part in the festival.

Sabrina called up on circus fans and others to attend the festival taking place at the Oromo Cultural Center for free.

The second edition of African Circus Arts Festival is expected to be celebrated in 2017, Walta learnt.
