Addis Ababa, 28 November 2015 (WIC) – The Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s Council said celebrating the Nations, Nationalities and People’s day is one of benefits of the Ethiopian Constitution to the previously stigmatized and undermined people.
Spokesperson with the Council, Lemma Gezmuye, told WIC that celebrating the day enables to demonstrate immense benefits to nations, nationalities and people’s through the constitution.
According to Lemma, the region is working on preparations necessary to celebrate the 10th Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day through developmental exhibitions, bazaar, symposium, question and answer contests, panel discussions and some others.
He further said the day helps to promote the 56 nations and nationalities of the region. So far profile of all the nations and nationalities, researches on over ten languages and culture has been prepared.
It was noted that the day has created an enabling environment for the region to promote itself and has resulted in a huge flow of tourists from time to time.
The day also strengthens the effort of image building, people to people ties, culture to culture bonds and at large scale sense of common understanding and nationalism, he added.
The 10th Nations, Nationalities and People’s Day will be marked under the theme of “Nations, Nationalities and People’s Participation for excelled Growth and Transformation!” in Gambella regional state, Walta learnt.
