Patients commend hospital service improvement

Addis Ababa, 2 January 2016 (WIC)- Patients who got medication at Yekatit 12 Hospital College, Minilik-II and Ras Desta Damtew hospitals have acclaimed improvement of services they have observed in the hospitals from time to time.

Patients said that with the due focus and attentions paid to strengthen services of hospitals from the government, the hospitals are improving their services with the passage of time.

A patient at Ras Desta Damtew Hospital, Sinidu Wale, told WIC that she has been frequently going to the hospital to seek medical care for Diabetes repeatedly. She said she feels happy about the treatment and support she has been receiving at the hospital.

Sinidu also appreciated sanitation of the hospital and greenery of the compound as something that refreshes one’s mind.

A young lady named Workalemahu Shibeshi, on her part said that she has been taking care of her mother at Ras Desta Hospital and has noticed that the hospital is equipped with different modern materials which help it to improve its services.

Hospital Administration and Development Deputy Head, Israel Otore, told WIC that the hospital is making efforts to improve its service via the 215 million birr budget allocated by the Addis Ababa city administration. the hospital has constructed a new building and is bringing modern health equipments to deliver better service, he noted.

The hospital, that has been giving service in a building constructed 93 years ago, is faced with fulfilling the growing demands from the ever increasing population, he noted. It has now increased its health service varieties from 16 to 24 following the expansion project, he added.

All staff members of the hospital are serving in harmony for the wellbeing and satisfaction of the patients, a Nurse at Ras Desta Hospital, Sister Ejigayehu Asmare, said.

She further added that the hospital is undertaking daily performance evaluation to help employees draw lessons from one another.

General Manager with Minilik-II Hospital, Kibebew Workeneh, also told WIC that the hospital has increased the number of beds from 200 to 556 following expansion project of the hospital.

The hospital has modernized and excelled its services with City scan, Digital x-ray, surgical equipments and oxygen pipes, Kibebew added.
