The Constitutional system has stood on a firm foundation to uphold the will of the people – GCAO

Addis Ababa, 16 January, 2016 (WIC) -The constitutional system, which enshrines the will of the nations, nationalities and people’s of Ethiopia, has created values up on which it stood on a firm foundation, Government Communication Affairs Office said.

The press release sent to WIC from the Office today indicates that there is a fair power sharing system between the federal government and the regional states which has enabled the regions to decide by themselves on issues that are specific to them.

The joint effort of the people of Ethiopia in the fight against poverty has gave rise to a significant economic leap forward that is recognized by the rest of the world since the last couple of decades, the statement noted.

The release noted that a lot has been done to enable towns in the outskirts of Addis benefit from the growth in the capital. However, the integrated master plan was not accepted by the people and is terminated and this is indicative the democratic system the country is building, it added.

The Oromia Regional State, together with OPDO, has started efforts to address public woes that were raised during a prior meeting and this trend of consulting the public and solving problems mutually shall be sustained, the statement noted.

The statement reiterated that the constitution has created a favorable scenario up on which it can decide on matters that are specific to its regional state and urged the anti-peace elements to refrain from creating havoc in the country by diverting legitimate questions of the public at large.

 

The office urged the Oromia Regional State and the Oromo people to sustain mutual consultation, keep on ensuing the development and peace the regions has witnessed and work in collaboration with the government to attain the goals set under the second GTP.
