Institutions need further zeal for good governance, rule of law-GCAO

The Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) urged democratic institutions to strive for more good governance and rule of law.

In its weekly government statement, the office indicated the independent institutions established to trace government’s drawbacks are effectively undertaking their responsibilities.

The office lauded these institutions’ accomplishment to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

The statement raised the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission’s accomplishment in unveiling the undemocratic deeds that were committed during the recent unrest in Amhara, Oromia and SNNP regional states.

The House of People’s Representatives has accepted the report and passed various decisions based on the investigation outcome and this is indicative of their firm zeal for the strengthening democratic system in the country.

The weekly statement also underlined that the ongoing dialogue between the ruling party and representative of the opposition parties can also contribute its share for the flourishing of democracy.

Such moves shall back the already commenced deep reform that the government is undertaking and this in turn shall ensure human rights of citizens at the grass roots level.

The office urged such and other institutions to sustain their effort for inducing democratic culture and rule of law.
