Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn, speaking at the memorial of the late Prime Minister Meles Zenawi, said that the visions of Meles shall be sustained through handing over of generations.
Addressing the attendants At the memorial ceremony held at the park named after the late pm, Hailemariam noted that Meles’s contribution in terms of building democratic developmental state, green economy and for justice to prevail across the world shall be sustained by succeeding generations.
“I would like to assure you that the leadership is ready to realize his vision backed by the thoughts, policies and strategies he had left behind,” the PM remarked.
Hailemariam called up on all members of the public to contribute their share for the achievement of the second growth and transformation plan and make the vision to make Ethiopia a middle income country a reality.
President of Meles Foundation and widow of the late PM, Azeb Mesfin, on her part said that the foundation is undertaking various activities to hand over the thoughts of Meles in an organized manner to the succeeding generations and so far it has collected about 400 of his piece of works and to inaugurate a book on coming Wednesday.
Construction of all the components of the park, which is designed to constitute Guest Rest rooms, Research and Study Centers, Offices of the Foundation, a mausoleum to show his dead body and other parts is scheduled to be completed at the end of this year.
On the day of his commemoration seedling plantation, laying of foundation stones and visits were undertaken in areas cited for his memorial.
