Norway support vital to realize GTP goals: Ministry

The Ministry of Science and Technology said that the cooperation Ethiopia has with Norway will help it realize the development goals outlined in the second GTP in science and technology fields.

State minister of the Ministry, Prof. Afework Kassu said that Norway is one of the major destinations of Ethiopian students, who were and are recruited to pursue education in science fields.

According to him, the country is planned to send as many as 36,000 students for studies abroad, who will in turn paly role in the countries technological transformation.

He also said that synergies among different institutions within the country and with that of Norwegian institutions is every essential to advance development.

According to him, synergy shall be made among the 24 institutions of the country, among others, manufacturing, health, education, mining, ICT, energy and transport sectors.

Dr. Tore Godal, Special envoy to the ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway also assured that Norway’s will continue its support for Ethiopian science and technology sectors.

He came to Ethiopia accompanying Norwegian Crown Prince Magnus.

Dated back some 70 years ago, the relation the two countries have been getting stronger through time.
