Conference stresses on need to strengthen Benishangul-Oromia people’s ties

The Conference held between the people of Benishangul and Oromia Regional states at Bishoftu stressed on the need to boost ties between the two people in various ways.

The peace and development conference has ratified a five year joint development plan worth 2.1 billion birr to be undertaken by cooperated zeal of the two regional states.

Three research papers are presented at the conference and they reflected the age-old economic, political and social ties between the two people and regions. Especially, it is indicated that the two regions have attained commendable outcomes in water, health and security sectors.

However, there needs to be a joint effort to improve the telecom and electric power services in both regions as the researchers indicated.

Participants of the conference indicated that such joint meetings should be strengthened and sustained as they are helpful to foster ties between the two people and consult on mutual concerns and remedies.
