We shall transcend our constitutional victories to higher levels-GCAO

The Government Communication Affairs Office (GCAO) said the government and people of Ethiopia are committed to elevate achievements attained through the constitutions to new higher levels.

The Office, in its weekly statement, indicated that the nations, nationalities and people’s day, celebrated on the day on which the constitution was ratified, is being colorfully underway in the Afar regional state under the theme, “Diversity colored with our constitution for our renaissance.”

The federal system has not only enabled the country respond to longstanding quest of the nations and nationalities to self-administer themselves, it also enabled the people to wage a concerted effort to create a single political economy in the last couple of decades.

The statement raised the handing over of the renaissance dam trophy to the Somali regional state as an instance to this joint effort.

The federal system also enabled the country to attain sustainable peace and economic development and the Ethiopia has attained towering diplomatic acceptance in the last couple of decades. The people are attaining better social, economic and political status and this should be strengthened and sustained, the statement added.

The nations, nationalities, and people’s day, being celebrated at the land of origin, Afar, is an opportunity to further cement the longstanding peace, coexistence and unity between the nations, nationalities and peoples of the country.
