Egyptian FM to arrive in Addis Ababa for bilateral discussion

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry to arrive today in Addis Ababa for bilateral discussion, Ethiopian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Meles Alem told a press conference yesterday.

The spokesperson said that bilateral ties in the field of economy, politics and social issues will top the discussion of the two nations.

However, he said that the discussion will exclude the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) as Sudan could feel left out from the matter.

This discussion, is according to Meles, part of the visit exchange of the two countries made every two months.

Two months ago, Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu paid visit to Egypt and held a bilateral discussions on matter affecting the two nations.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson also said that Ethiopia has played a great role in pushing warring parties of South Sudan to come to terms with both of them signed a ceasefire agreement in Addis Ababa effective within 72 hours from last Thursday.

It took effect accordingly on Sunday, he said.

He said that the agreement is “the biggest diplomatic success of the Ethiopia.”
