Council of Ministers decides to remove OLF, ONLF & Ginbot 7 from terrorist list

The Council of Ministers has submitted today a resolution, which rescinds the designation of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF), Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), and Ginbot 7 as terrorist groups, for approval to the House of People’s Representatives.

Chief of Staff at the Prime Minister Office, Fitsum Arega said the resolution was forwarded to HPR in line with Proclamation 652/2009.

Fitsum stated on twitter that the council believes that the decision will encourage groups to use peaceful political discourse to achieve political ends.

The Ethiopian government has long designated ONLF, OLF, and Ginbot 7 as terrorist organizations.
