Amhara region reaches an agreement with ADFM

The Amhara regional state reached an agreement with the Amhara Democratic Forces Movement (ADFM) based in Asmara to work in cooperation in areas where the unity and interest of the Amhara People could be realized.

Two days ago, the delegation led by region’s Communication head, Nigusu Tilahun left for Asmara for talks with higher leaders of the movement.

 In a second chapter of negotiation that followed preliminary discussion held Bahir Dar, the two parties, however, said that have still points that need further discussion.

The also put a future direction on how to work in cooperation.

The change being witnessed in Ethiopian political space allows ways for reconciliation and peace, and freedom of expression in which parties of different political ideology invited home to join the peaceful political struggle.

The Asmara mission is part of the country’s change, according to Nigusu Tilahun.

Nigusu also appreciated the government of Eritrea for affiliating talks the region made with movement.

Movement Chairman, Teferi Kassahun on his part said that the party went into the desert of Eritrea to fight the atrocities committed against the Amhara People is now agreed to go home for peaceful struggle.

However, he said that the agreement they made is not because they believe the questions of Amhara people  got addressed, but it is to wage a cooperative struggle to address the boundary and identify question that have been raised.

The agreement is also said important for two countries relation, which has been thawed by leaders of two countries after decades of stalemate./Amhara Mass Media Agency
