Court grants police 14 days for investigating Bereket, Tadesse

The high court in Bahir Dar, in Amhara region of Ethiopia granted police 14 days for investigating Bekete Simon and Tadesse kassa who landed in jail after being accused of corruption.

The two, who were also veteran members of the Amhara National  Democratic Movement (ANDM) arrested in Addis Ababa yesteraday from their home and latter taken to Bahirdar.  

Bereket and Tadesse have appeared before court today in grand corruption accusation they allegedly committed while leading the regional business conglomerate, Tiret.

The suspects complained that their human right is violated and asked the court to transfer them to a court in Addis Ababa, but the court turned their request down saying that the crime is committed in the region.

The court also denied bail right of the suspects, and decided that they should remain in sight of maximum security.
