Ireland to Continue Supporting Ethiopia’s Development Agenda: Irish Ambassador

President Sahlework Zewdie today at the National Palace in Addis Ababa, bid farewell to the outgoing Ambassadors of Ireland, Sonja Hyland.

While discussing with President Sahlework, Ambassador Hyland has reiterated her country’s commitment in supporting Ethiopia attain its development goals and aspirations.

During her tenure, Ethiopia and Ireland witnessed expanded relations across all sectors of cooperation programs including health, basic services, social accountability, agriculture and rural development.

The ambassador stated that she has inked a financial grant to support the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) and the House of Peoples’ Representatives to run the 2020 national elections and parliamentary reform agenda.

The Newly appointed Irish Ambassador to Ethiopia will persist to strengthen relations between Ethiopia and Ireland, she noted.

Addressing the envoy, President Sahlework appreciated Ambassador Hyland for her strengthening diplomatic cooperation between Ethiopia and Ireland during her tour of duty.

Ethiopia will work to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, she added.
