Ethiopia will celebrate Peace Day on 7th September 2019 that will be accompanied by events that nurture peace across the country, according to Ministry of Peace.
Briefing journalists today, Ministry Communications Director Hermela Solomon said national peace day will be celebrated on September 7, 2019.
In the course of the week that starts on September 1, the ministry has organized a three-day program in which children, parents, and youth plant tree seedlings.
She added that the programs prepared to celebrate the day are in line with the theme “Climate Action for Peace” of the International Peace Day that will be celebrated on September 21, 2019.
Stating that plants cannot grow overnight, Hermela pointed out that “consistent and concerted efforts are needed to build and maintain lasting peace.”
The director urged media practitioners to carry out their responsibility in raising the awareness of the public with regard to building sustainable peace.
