Association urges Ethiopian refugees to repatriate home

   

The Ethiopian Diaspora Association urged Ethiopian refugees living in Saudi Arabia to repatriate home before the deadline put by the government of Saudi Arabia ended.

The government opened 18 temporary branches across Saudi Arabia to issue visa for Ethiopians, said that Association urging all Ethiopian refugees to use the opportunity.

The Association also said that though some of refugees started coming back home, there are still people who turned deaf ear to the plea the government has made.

 According to the Association, some people are thinking that the government of Saudi Arabia may offer clemency to them after half of them returned home.

According to Board member of the Association, teacher Yasin Raju, most of the refugees is living in rural area of the country and it is feared that they could face high risk unless they leave the country before the deadline.

He said that the government of Saudi Arabia built 98 prisons in the country’s high temperature zones to incarcerate refugees who refused to leave the country.

The Association will soon travel to Saudi Arabia to aware people of the potential risks and lobby them to return home safely.
