Inclusive, special need education project said fruitful

The inclusive and special need education project, that has beeen undertaken by the cooperation of the Ministry of Education and the Government of Finland is lauded as fruitful, Ministry’ Communication Directorate said.

Director of the Directorate, Ahmed seid, noted that the project was effective in terms of backing teachers training, strengthening inclusive education centers and implementaion of the special need education in the selected regions.
 

The project, that has been impelemnted since 2013 up to 2017 in Addis Ababa, Oromia and SNNPR, has registered encouraging outcomes.
 

The special need education is adapted with the 2012 education quality improvement package  and it has helped to make education centers to be inclusive of such needs in the stated regions, he noted.
Selected profesionals from all the three regions have made experience sharing forum and it is scheduled to be expanded and implemented in other areas of the country.

Though the project is accomlished as scheduled in the stated regions, the embassy of Finland has expressed its desire to keep support for the sector in Ethiopia, he indicated.

The Ethiopian government has inculcated special need and inclusive education schemes under the national education quality improvement package and various tasks are being undertaken.
