Agency attributes design change for parks construction delay

The Addis Ababa Beautification, Parks and Cemetery Development Agency said that difficulties happened in putting parks design on the ground and delayed payment of Addis Ababa Construction Bureau for each sub-contract works attributed for construction delay.

Last budget year, the Agency has set out pan to finalize the construction ten new and old parks at a cost of over 200mln birr.

Agency’s communication head, Adebabay Sendeku told WMC that the poor design of the parks’ drainage system, which was resulted from lack consulting concerned bodies, was among the problems ascribed for delay.

He said that the Agency has applied new procedure this year to pay sub-contract works as fast as possible.

According to him, many of the parks will see completion this year except Bihere Tsige, located in the City’s North West bosom.

The sprawling Addis Ababa City will, according the Adebabay, have a sum of 117 parks corresponding to 117 Woredas within the second GTP period with design of 28 parks sketched this year and got plots identified.
