Released prisoners arrive home

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed arrived Addis Ababa yesterday along with 32 Ethiopian prisoners released from Egyptian jails.

The Ethiopian prisoners, including children and their mothers who were detained from 4 years to 10 months in Egyptian jails, have arrived Addis Ababa with Premier Abiy.

The former inmates, 32 in number, expressed their joy in tears upon their arrival at Bole International Airport.

Some of the former prisoners expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the relentless efforts made by the government in effecting their release from the jails in which they have experienced the most painful agony.

The prisoners were reportedly released based on the agreement made between Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt.
