Orthodox Church seeks support for victims of Jigjiga violence

Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Abune Matias said that the victims of the Ethio-Somali region violence that resulted in the death of faithful and destruction of nearly nine churches, needs humanitarian assistance.

According the Patriarch, all Sunday schools, and belongings of the seat of patriarchal burned to ashes while seven priests and unknown number of faithful gruesomely executed.

“The incident is very saddening and shameful that is hard to think about, let alone doing it,” the Patriarch added.

As the damage is too huge, the patriarch urged Ethiopians to join hands in rebuilding the churches and providing food, wear and shelter for victims of the violence that sent a shock wave to Holy Synod and country as a whole.

The patriarch also urges the government to maintain the security of the people so that religious sovereignty will be also well in the country.

The elderly, scholars and artists also urged to work in way to create a great nation that Ethiopian feel proud off.

The Patriarch also urged the youths not to buy fake news, which have destructive effect in the country.
