Ethiopia has officially launched a five-year National Action Planning for Health Security (NAPHS) today.
The action plan which runs 2019-2023 is well aligned with the country’s overall health policy, it was noted.
World Health Organization (WHO) congratulated the country for launching the action plan, which is expected to bring significance improvement to the capacities to prevent, detect and respond to health threats.
NAPHS is a country owned, multi-year, planning process that can accelerate the implementation of international health regulations (IHR) core capacities, and is based on a one health for all-hazards, whole-of-government approach.
It captures national priorities for health security, brings sectors together, identifies partners and allocates resources for health security capacity development.
