Ministry mobilizes harvesting machines

The Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources announced that it is mobilizing harvesting machines from Arsi area of Ethiopia to some regions including to Amhara, where crop are ready for harvest.

Crop production Director with the Ministry, Esayas Lamma told WMC that the ministry is informing and pushing private harvesting companies to move to areas, where crops are dried up and ready to be collected.

According to him, mobilizing machineries is essential in harvesting crops in large volume in lesser time compared  farmers used to do.

By doing this, he said that crops will be harvested sooner before faced by wastage during harvest.

Harvesting of crops is well underway in the country, with Ministry declared last week that 70-80 percent of sesame production is already harvested with Amhara and Tigray region almost done except some areas.

The country set to earn 1 bln dollar income from export of crop this year.
