AU Summit opens in Addis Ababa

African leaders are in Ethiopia's capital for the annual summit of the African Union.

They face a lengthy agenda, ranging from appointing an anti-corruption leader, independent financing for the organisation and political and security issues around the continent.

The leaders are expected to discuss a number of issues and pass major decisions during the two days.

The state of peace and security in the continent, migration, climate change, among others will be discussed by the leaders.  

Structural reform of the AU, the continental free trade area (CFTA), and agricultural transformation scorecard, are among the issues that the leaders are expected to discuss and pass decision.

The leaders will launch the AU theme of 2018 “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation” and the Single African Air Transport Market
