Ethiopia earns 2.54 Bln USD revenue from export trade

Ethiopia has earned 2.54 Bln USD revenue from export trade during the last 11 months of this budget year, ministry of trade announced.

Public and Communication head with the ministry, Wendiumu Filate told WMC that the ministry has planned to secure 4. 29 bln USD and managed to obtain 2.54 bln USD revenue in the last 11 months of this fiscal year.

The ministry only obtained 59 percents of the targeted revenue during the eleven months period, Wendimu said. The revenue gained in the stated period is declined by 1.74 percent compare to the same period of the last budget year, he added.

According to Wendimu, the agricultural products exported by the country contributed 77.5 percent, manufacturing products 14. 7 percent, mining products 7.1 and the rest gained from different items of exportable commodities.    

Wendimu noted that the export of cereals, spices, natural gum and incenses have registered better performance during the stated period, Wendimu indicated.  

However , the  exports of  leather products ,textiles and attires , honey ,tantalum , fruits ,oilseeds , gold , livestock, meat and metal products  showed  less than  50  percents  performance  in the last eleven months,  he underscored.

The price turn down in some agricultural and mining products at international markets has contributed for the total revenue of the export trade, Walta learnt.
