The Ethiopian Revenues and Customs Authority (ERCA) announced that the system, which was developed two years ago to make the receipt serves as lottery will be practical by next year.
The Authority’s cash register machine technology team leader, Tewodros Woldemariam said that the system will be put in place to push the people to ask for receipt and make it valuable.
Though, the system that was supposed to make a receipt valuable was introduced two years ago, is not yet practical, he said.
Rwanda took lesson form Ethiopian on cash register technologies with a view to adapt a system of making a receipt to serve as a lottery note.
The country has not centeral information poll that made call for winners of lottery.
Tewodros said that efforts are being made to enable all shoppers who have the receipt to use as lottery so that they can draw lottery and call winners.
He said that currently the system that would be helpful to call people who have the lottery has finalized.
According to him, the system will expose those who use the receipt in illegal manner.
By introducing the new system, the authority says it will solve the receipt related problems and planned to increase its income.
