Ethiopia earns 678 mln USD revenue from export trade

The Ministry of trade  has announced that it has earned  a total  of  678 mln  USD revenue  from the  export  trade during the first  quarter  of this budget year . 

Public Relations and Communication head with the ministry, Wendimu Filate told WMC that about 678 mln USD revenue is earned from the export of agricultural, manufacturing and mining products targeting to earn a total of   977 mln USD from export trade during the first quarter.       

According to Wendimu, the revenue earned from export trade in the first quarter of the current budget year has exceeded by 19 mln USD compare to the same period of the previous year.   

The  revenue  gained from the export of oil seeds, tea and electric power exceeded its  target.  However, the quarter revenue  from the export of  milk , dairy products , spices , pharmaceutical products , leather  products , meat , live  animals , chemicals and  construction  inputs  registered below 50 percents of its target revenue  ,  he reiterated.       

Wendimu noted that Ethiopia has earned 215 mln USD revenue or 87.8 percents of its target from the export of 55, 825 tons of coffee during the first quarter this budget year.   

The amount of oil seeds and the revenue earned from the export of oil seeds has increased during the first quarter of this budget year, he underscored.

Oil seeds generated 73.87 mln USD revenue or able to achieve 133 percents of its targeted revenue and 127 percents of the exported amount during the first quarter of this budget year, he stated.           

 According to Wendimu, the price hike of oilseeds  at local and  international market has contributed  for the growth revenue  from  oil seeds  export.

Ethiopia has exported  different  products   to  120  destination  countries across the  world   but  20  countries  were purchased the larger share of the  Ethiopian export products in the stated period.
