Addis Ababa, July 6, 2023 (Walta) This year, the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance dam (GERD) will not be filled until the end of August and the beginning of September, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed announced.
“We will start filling of GERD after we ensured that Sudan and Egypt gets enough water.” The prime minister said during his explanations at the 28th regular session of the House of People’s Representatives.
The downstream countries, Sudan and Egypt, are our brothers and neighbors that we cannot hate, he added.
Furthermore, the prime minister expressed his gratitude to the workers at the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) that out of heart have been labouring hard to deliver set milestones.
