Ethiopia, South Korea ink agreement on urban development

Addis Ababa, 30 July, 2016(WIC) – Ethiopia and South Korea have signed an agreement that could enable to jointly work on issues tied with urban land development.

The agreement was signed between Solomon Kebede, Head of the Federal Urban Land and Land Related Issues Registration Agency, and his Korean counterpart Biki Chaw.

Solomon noted that the agreement shall contribute its share for the country’s effort to create modern and efficient urban land administration.

The Agency is making relentless effort to ensure  smooth process of land ownership and registration in urban areas of the country, he said.

The Agency is preparing a legal cadastre system for 23 urban areas of the country, he underscored. It has planned to increase this number to 91 during the GTP II period.

His Korean Counterpart, Biki Chaw, on his part said that integrated urban land administration is key for the development of urban areas.

Practice of modern and effective urban development strategies have contributed a lot for South Korea’s development, she noted. South Korea is ready to share experience for Ethiopia effort to create the same system in the country, she added.

She underscored that effective urban land management has a lot to contribute for more investment flow to the country.
