Addis Ababa Accuses International Community for its ‘Double Standards’

Addis Ababa, July 29, 2021 (Walta)- The Ethiopian government accused the international community of responding with “dead silence” to belligerence by the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF).

The Press Secretary of the Office of Ethiopian Prime Minister, Billen Seyoum, said that the group labeled as a terrorist group by Ethiopian House of Peoples’ Representatives, is expanding its violence by attacking regional states, killing civilians and forcibly engaging children in an active conflict zone.

TPLF is a group designated as terrorist by Ethiopian lower House.

The Prime Minister Press Secretary accused the international community of being mute when civilians are being used as human shields by the group.

“Clear double standards seem to be at play in the silence towards TPLF’s harassment and overt belligerence” Billen said.

The Prime Minister’s office also expressed concern over the safety of Eritrean refugees being sheltered at camps in Tigray region.

At least six Eritrean refugees have so far been killed according to Ethiopian Agency for Refugee Affairs.
