Addis Ababa, March 18, 2024(Addis Wakta) The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atsiksilase, discussed with his Switzerland counterpart, Ignacio Cassis.
In their discussion, the two consulted on issues that could strengthen the bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Switzerland.
Ambassador Taye pointed out that Ethiopia and Switzerland have long-standing relations and that the discussions on bilateral and multilateral issues were productive.
Ambassador Taye appreciated Switzerland’s multifaceted support to Ethiopia during difficult times and emphasized the importance of developing long-term bilateral relations between the two countries.
During their meeting, they also discussed the significance of the seaport for Ethiopian trade and discussed ways to improve the peace situation in Sudan and the region.
The Foreign Minister of Switzerland, Ignacio Cassis, for his part, said that Ethiopia is among the African countries that are given priority in terms of international relations. He also expressed Switzerland’s interest in strengthening its ties with Ethiopia in various areas such as trade and investment, humanitarian aid, and development cooperation.
