Addis Ababa, June 29, 2022 (Walta) – The African Union (AU) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) have called for restraint owing to the Ethio-Sudan border tension.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, appeals for complete refrain from any military action whatever its origin and calls for dialogue to solve any dispute in a statement his office released today.

The chairperson said that the recent boarder skirmish should not scuttle the diplomatic solution being sought to resolve the ongoing internal challenges in the two member states.

The chairperson urges the two nations to continue a peaceful resolution of the border dispute under the auspices of the AU Border Program.
