Addis Ababa, July 16, 2022(Walta) – The state-owned telecom operator Ethio telecom and the National Lottery Administration (NLA) yesterday signed an agreement to launch a digital lottery known as Admas.
During the signing ceremony yesterday, Ethio telecom CEO Frehiwot Tamiru said that Ethio telecom is striving to realize the vision of digitalizing Ethiopia.
The launching of a digital lottery through telebirr and short SMS services is part of Ethio telecom’s efforts to promote digitalizing services, she said. Accordingly, the agreement will have significant contributions to the NLA in reducing printing costs, enhancing its accessibility, and saving time.
She further said that Ethio telecom will continue partnering with other public and private organizations towards advancing the country’s journey of digitalization. On his part, NLA Director General Geremew Garje said that the agreement helps to modernize its services and increase its customers. Accordingly, in the future, the lottery service is expected to be fully digitalized so as to facilitate transactions easily.
