Ethiopia Inaugurates its Embassy in Pakistan

Addis Ababa, May 12, 2023 (Walta) Ethiopia officially inaugurated its Embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan.

The Embassy was officially inaugurated in the presence of Ambassadors and the diplomatic community based in Islamabad.

State Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, and Minister of State of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar, cut the inauguration ribbon of the opening.

In his remarks, Ambassador Mesganu stated that the opening of the Embassy “marks a new history in the diplomatic, political, economic, and social cooperation between the two countries.”

Ambassador Mesganu also underscored the relationship between the two countries is beyond bilateral indicating Pakistan as Ethiopia’s strategic partner to work on climate change, migration, security, and terrorism, MFA of Ethiopia indicated.

Minister of State of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Hina Rabbani Khar, on her part, said that Ethiopia and Pakistan have similar economic and development challenges which need to be addressed with cooperation and collaboration.

He also stressed that the opening of the Ethiopian embassy in Islamabad will have a vital role in enhancing Afro-Pakistan relations.
