Ethiopia Needs 100 bln Birr to Restore Schools Ravaged by TPLF

Addis Ababa, February 8, 2022 (Walta) – Ministry of Education stated that Ethiopia needs more than 100 billion birr to fully restore schools ravaged by the terrorist TPLF Group.

The Education Ministry along with the Human Resource Development and Technology Standing Committee of the House of Peoples Representatives assessed the damage caused by the terrorist group on education facilities and related impacts on the learning-teaching process.

On the occasion, the Education Minister Professor Berhanu Nega stated that the conflict inflicted by the TPLF seriously affected the learning-teaching process at more than 3 million students of the school.

According to the Minister over 1,200 schools have been fully destroyed due to the war and conflicts in several parts of the country while three universities in the Amhara Region have been fully and partially damaged by the TPLF aggression.

The Ministry has so far mobilized more than 130 million USD from partners during the past six months, according to the Minister.
