Ethiopia Officially Praises Ugandan Journalists, Activists For Serving Truth

Addis Ababa, November 21, 2021 (Walta) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Uganda, Alemtsehay Meseret has officially praised Ugandan journalists and activists in a thanksgiving ceremony held in Kampala.

Ambassador Alemtsehay said many Ugandan journalists have covered issues related to the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and the ongoing conflict in northern parts of the country in a more balanced and truthful manner defending the national interests of Ethiopia based on concrete evidence.

A host of the Good Morning Uganda – Pan- African Friday show at UB’s Television Uganda, Semakula Gyagenda said on the occasion that Ethiopia is a symbol of freedom for Africa and pioneer of the Pan African movement, calling all African journalists to stand with Ethiopia by serving the truth in the light of the ongoing situation in the country.

Ugandan Media Center Public Relations Head, Dennies Katungi stressed the need to disseminate accurate and balanced reports at this time which is marked by uncertainty due to false news and disinformation targeting the continent of Africa.

Heads of various media houses, chief executive producers, and correspondents based in Kampala have attended the thanksgiving event.
