“Ethiopia shouldn’t Continue War to Ensure Peace, Prosperity” – PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, November 15, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that Ethiopia should not engage in everlasting war to ensure peace and prosperity.

The Prime Minister said so while addressing queries raised by members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives today.

In his briefing to the law makers, the prime minister touched up on a number of issues including security, economy and social aspect of the country.

According to the prime minister, the peace talk with Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) will be done in a manner that consolidates the unity of Ethiopia. The Prime Minister also made public his administration readiness talk with any group ready to settle difference in a civilized manner that respects the constitutional order.

In his explanation regarding disputed areas, he said that it is possible to solve the problems through ensuring the participation resident of the area under consideration.

Regarding the economy, the premier said the country’s economy has been resilient in the face of internal and external shocks.

According to the PM, the economy grew 6.4 percent last year. It is expected to grow at 7.5 percent this year.

He also said that Ethiopia Gross Domestic Product is valued at 126.7 billion USD while the per capita income is 1,212 USD.

That makes the Ethiopian economy the largest in East Africa and the third largest in Sub-Saharan Africa, next to Nigeria and South Africa.
