Ethiopia Signs Agreement with UNIDO to Develop Agro-Food Parks

Addis Ababa, April 18, 2024(Addis Walta) Semereta Sewasew, State Minister of Finance, and Gunther Beger, Managing Director of United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) signed “Enhancing Integrated Agro-Food Parks Development in Ethiopia, Phase II” Project.

The project is aimed at supporting Ethiopia to develop an additional three Agro-Industrial Parks through feasibility studies, master plan preparation, undertaking environmental and social impact assessment, and capacity strengthening of stakeholders.

These foundational tasks will be done with 1.5 million USD support of UNIDO, as mobilized by the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), according to the Ministry of Finance of Ethiopia.

Semereta Sewasew and Gunther Beger stressed that the technical support for the development of the parks is expected to contribute to the efforts to integrate the agricultural and industrial sectors and ultimately enhance the performance of the manufacturing sector. Beger also mentioned that UNIDO will continue to support Ethiopia’s development priorities in every possible way.
