Ethiopian Airlines Resume Flight to Tigray

Addis Ababa, December 28, 2022 (Walta) – Ethiopian Airlines has restarted its regular flights to Mekele today.

After nearly two years, the Ethiopian Airlines plane has boarded the first round of passengers to Tigray, Mekelle.

The decision to resume flight to Mekele came after peace agreements and a high level federal government officials’ visit to the region on December 27, 2022.

Government officials’ visit is taken as sign of strong commitment to implementing the peace agreement.

Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, stated that the resumption of flights to Mekele has a multiple benefits including reuniting families and strengthen the peace process by strengthening the relationship with each other.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed gave direction to CEOs to expedite services in Tigray after he was debriefed by team of the delegation traveled to Tigray.
