Ethiopian TVTI, Chinese Ministry of Education Sign MoU to Collaborate in Rail way Technology Training

Addis Ababa, March 25, 2024(Addis Walta) A delegation from China’s Ministry of Education, led by the Director-General of the Department of Vocational and Adult Education, Li Ying Li, recently met with officials from Ethiopia’s Technical and Vocational Training Institute (TVTI) to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in providing high-end technical skills training for Ethiopian trainees.

During the meeting, the Chinese delegation, State Minister for Labor and Skills Ministry Teshale Berecha (PhD), and senior TVTI officials visited the Ethiopian Luban Workshop.

The workshop, launched in 2021, provides high-end technical skills training to college students to help them meet the requirements of the emerging global market. It is designed to serve as a center of excellence in four main areas: industrial sensor technology, mechatronics technology, industrial control technology, and industrial robotics technology.

Yesterday, the Chinese Ministry of Education and the Ethiopian Technical and Vocational Training Institute signed an MoU to start a new training program in the field of Railway Engineering Technology at the Luban Workshop.

The Luban Workshop was established by the Chinese Tianjin University of Technology and Education (TUTE) under the guidance of China’s Ministry of Education. It serves as a center of capacity building for the Ethiopian Technical and Vocational Education and Training sector.
