French Nationals Defy to Leave Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, November 25, 2021(Walta) – French nationals living in Ethiopia said they deified the call made by their government to leave East African.

It is to be recalled that France advised its citizens to leave Ethiopia. “All French nationals are formally urged to leave the country without delay,” the French Embassy in Addis Ababa stated recently.

Approached by local media, Frenchman Jonathan McKee, who claimed to live in Ethiopia for 22 years, said the situation in Ethiopia remains peaceful in Addis Ababa and there is no enough reason to leave. “Western embassies could say whatever they want. But, I will never leave this country; I have never left this country; I would rather die than leave Ethiopia.”

Noting the decision has been made by the French government, not by citizens, McKee highlighted that it will not represent all French nationals. “As a French citizen, I am outraged and ashamed by the decision of the French government and other Western countries.”

As to him, what Western powers are doing to Ethiopia now has been done to other countries in the past. When the U.S. and its allies want to invade a country, they falsely accuse the government in question.

“When the U.S. launched a war on Syria, they echoed keywords in their media companies including that the Syrian government had been using chemical weapons against its citizens and killing innocent Syrians. When these countries now want to attack Ethiopia, they start echoing the word genocide, blockade, Nobel Peace Prize winner, and others.”

Mood, another French citizen who has been living here for fifteen years stated that she is very proud to live in Ethiopia and consider

Ethiopia is her second home and does not want to leave it. “My children, my wife, my friends, and everything to me is all here in Ethiopia.”

Mood expressed her dismay over the French government’s call to its citizens to leave Ethiopia. “I am always asking why Western governments put pressure on Ethiopia instead of supporting it.”

The call to citizens’ withdrawal is the interest of some Western governments, and it is not the desire of the people. “For my part, I will never leave Ethiopia; I have no reason to leave the country; and need to remain here,” she noted.
