Government Retains Promises to Ensure Free, Fair Election

Addis Ababa, June 26, 2021(Walta) – In a bid to ensure democracy and the rule of law, the Ethiopian government has proven its unremitting commitments to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election is executed.

This was noted by the Ethiopian Ambassador to Djibouti, Berhanu Tsegaye in a discussion with United Nations Resident Coordinator, Barbara Manzi. The Ambassador added, added “the election was free, fair and peaceful” as was reiterated by observers and the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia.

During the discussions, Ambassador Berhanu also briefed his counterparts about the current situations in Ethiopia, among others, the government’s unremitting efforts to hone the capacity of institutions to best and timely address challenges in the Tigray Region.

Speaking about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam, Ambassador Berhanu, underlined that Ethiopia would continue to adhere to the African Union (AU) led negotiating process, according to MoFA.
